Ajeya B N, Doctor

“Corruption bothers me but I don’t think participating in a rally will make a difference. Corruption by any party that is in power has to be brought to the book.

Even if BJP is replaced by any other party, we can be sure that it is going to be no better.
As a common man, I have no choice but to suffer the same fate each time.”
.
Ashok Govind Dharmadhikari, Artist

“I am 66 years old and I am a painter. I have been trying to get a gallery to display my work for a long time now, but there is corruption and politics even at that level.

People appreciate my work but they don’t give me a space to display it. They require money even to get the simplest work done.”
.
K M Indira, Educationist

“I am against corruption but the sad part is that we cannot completely eradicate it. We could only work towards bringing down the level of corruption. We need to take a stand that we will not offer bribe. It is only when we get more informed and are aware of our rights that we can fight corruption. Education is the first step towards fighting corruption.

Parents and teachers need to inculcate values in students rather then stress on only scoring high marks.”
.
Sunaina Bopanna, Student

“I think people are too engrossed in their own world to care about corruption. Just a couple of days ago, we ended up paying Rs 1000 to a cop. It was late at night and we were in a car and none of us were drunk and neither did we break any rules. We had just parked for a short while when a cop came up to us and demanded money. We got scared and to get rid of him we had to bribe him.”
.
Mohammad Irfan, Street vendor

“I don’t care about corruption. My entire day revolves around selling as many shirts as possible to make ends meet. I have two young daughters who need to be educated. I make Rs 250 a day with which I need to support my family. I have no time or inclination to know about politics or what our politicians are upto.”
.
Haveena Anu, Engineer

“Corruption affects us in every way. Even if you have all the documents in place and everything is submitted according to the guidelines stipulated by the government, officials still ask for a bribe. If you don’t pay, your work gets delayed. Corruption is there from the lowest level to the highest. But people are also indifferent. It is high time we start taking responsibility.”
