Nothing casual about sex
No Strings Attached English (A) Cast: Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Kline Director: Ivan Reitman
Emma (Portman) needs just casual sex and Adam (Kutcher) who has had a crush on her since their teenage days can do just that when they bump into each other years later.
Plenty of sex scenes drive the first stages of the romantic comedy but soon things get complicated. Adam wants to seriously date Emma. And, for Emma, she soon realises that sex with Adam is not enough. She wants more of him. Can the two get over sex and work something out?
Hot talk and to-the-point dialogues mark this modern day rompcom. However, there are cliches everywhere which may be too familiar.
Is it always the woman who eats too much when she is heartbroken and the man who goes gaga over an iron lady?
Thankfully, the screenplay is true to the film’s title. You get all you deserve. There’s straight talk about sex, plenty of sexual escapades, innuendos and bedroom antics.
For once it is good seeing a man eagerly waiting for his phone to ring and not the other way round. The cast, especially Natalie Portman does her job pretty well with her antics.
Young couples and even adult audience will love this film not just because there is dashing Ashton Kutcher but for the fun in talking about the most intimate thing a woman and a man can share.
A raunchy comedy, yet surprisingly entertaining romcom No Strings Attached does address questions about commitment and it may as well be a good lesson on love and sex.
