Comatose girl gains consciousness to tell of murder plot

After gaining consciousness after almost a year recently, she astounded her parents by stating she did not meet with an accident but actually some people had made an attempt to kill her.

The parents immediately contacted the police and now, a case of attempt to murder has been registered based on her statement. Still unable to walk properly because of  her injuries, Deepal told the police that she had become a victim of an old enmity between her family and her brother’s  former in-laws .

Deepal has said in her statement that on the fateful night, she was chased by Udai Patel, former brother-in-law of the victim’s brother, Dharmendra Patel, when she was driving her two wheeler. He caught hold of her and gave her a severe beating before she fell unconscious.

The animosity between the two families goes back  a year when her brother divorced his wife.  Deepal was apparently targeted to teach the Patel family a lesson.

Senior police inspector K D Bhatt said: “Her parents had filed a report stating that she was hit by a train as her injured body was found near the railway tracks.’’

Bhatt said that a case of accident was registered then. But after her statement, the police have registered a case of attempt to murder against four persons.He added that Patel’s parents have now shifted her to their residence in Kalol, about 40 km from here. The accused are at large.
