31-km mono rail network, new elevated highway for Bangalore

BSY announced that the State Government would start work to build a 31 km network of mono rail in Bangalore.  The Comprehensive Traffic & Transportation Plan (CTTP) for Bangalore has proposed four lines of Light rail or Monorail, totalling 60 km, to act as feeder services for the Metro under construction.

The proposed routes with a total 60.0 kilometres (37.3 mi) are :

    * Hebbal to J P Nagar (Bannerghatta Road) along the western portion of Outer Ring Road (31.0 km)
    * Peripheral Ring Road to Toll Gate along Magadi Road (9.0 km)
    * Kathriguppe Road /Ring Road Junction to National College (5.0 km)
    * Hosur Road - Bannerghatta Road Junction to PRR along Bannerghatta Road (15.0 km)
    * Majestic to Agara (15 km)

BS Yeddyurappa had earlier said that the first monorail in the city would chug between Majestic and Agara Lake. But with the new announcement the project gets a financial push and inches closer to reality.

The Chief Minister also announced that Rs 4,770 would be spent for the overall development of Bangalore. Other key proposals in the budget for Bangalore: 

*BDA to form three new layouts
*International conventional centre near BIA at Rs 150 crore
*Elevated road from Minerva circle to Hudson circle via JC road
*Potable water supply at Rs 3384 crore
*12 parks and entertainment centres to be developed
*Sculpture park to come up on an eight acre plot
*Rs 350 crore for BBMP
*10 new vehicle parking lots
*4 super speciality hospital in four zones of the city under PPP
*10 Bus stands to be built in BBMP area
