Polio drive today in DK district
There are 1,70,721 children in DK district
As many as 921 polio booths have been set up in the district as part of the second phase of pulse polio immunisation programme which will be conducted in the district on February 27, informed District Health Officer Dr O R Srirangappa.
Briefing the arrangements made for the forthcoming pulse polio immunisation programme, he said there are 1,70,721 children in the district belonging to 0-5 age group. “We intend to vaccinate all these children, thus I request all the parents to bring their children to the polio booths on Sunday,” he appealed.
“We have deployed 3,684 volunteers to vaccinate the children and 184 supervisors to look into the process. Vaccination process will take place in all the booths on Sunday and it will be held again in the rural areas on February 28, followed by vaccinating in the city areas on March 1 and 2, so that nobody is deprived from immunisation,” he said.
Meanwhile, he informed that out of 1,70,721 children, 1,68,193 were vaccinated in the first phase. “We could not vaccinate all the children due to factors like families migrating and travelling to other places during polio drive,” he said.
