I-T dept sets up control room


Income Tax department has set up a round-the- clock control room in the wake of Assembly elections. In a release, the department has sought information from members of the public about the use of funds to induce voters.

The control room functions from the Queens Road office of the department for receiving information or complaints. "The department is specifically tasked with controlling the use of unaccounted funds to subvert the people's mandate,'' the release stated.

CEC to visit city today

The full Election Commission will be in Bengaluru for three days from Wednesday to review the election preparedness in the state.

Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat along with Election Commissioners Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa will conduct meetings with the chief secretary, director general and inspector general of police and other officials of the state government.

The panel will also hold meetings with leaders of various political parties. Assembly election will be held in the state on May 12.
