And less than a month ago, she got married! But Bollywood star and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta, who recently walked down the aisle with ace tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi, believes in hard work. In the City recently to launch her yoga DVD, the pretty lady spoke to Metrolife on the DVD, life after marriage and her new role as a producer.

“I have got a fantastic response to the DVD. It’s a three-part series and I’ve worked very hard on it,” she gushes. “Though I don’t know much about the business, I have worked with a fitness expert like Zareen Watson, who really knows what she is talking about.”

Being a Bangalore girl, Lara loves the “warm reception” she gets in the City every time she comes here. What are her favourite hangouts here? “Though I am a vegetarian, I am a big foodie so I love Koshys and Nagarjuna,” she smiles.

Having tied the knot with Mahesh Bhupathi in February, she is glowing like any new bride. “It’s been really good,” is all she says about marriage. But why is she not taking a break? “We are all hard workers you see,” she laughs.

Moving on to films, she will be seen in the much-awaited Don 2 with Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra. “It’s been a fabulous project. We shot in Berlin and had a great time. With people like SRK around, there is always high energy on the sets,” she exclaims.

Mention Chalo Dilli, which releases on April 29, and you can see the happiness on her face as she has also produced the film. “Production was a huge learning experience and this film is something that I am genuinely proud of,” she says. “Many times actors are asked about the best role of their career. I would say Chalo Dilli is my best role till date.” Which are the other films that she is working on? “Since I am not producing any of the other films, I can’t speak much about them and you will have to wait for the producers to announce them,” she jokes.

As she looks back on her career, she is extremely grateful. “I am very fortunate to have come so far. But there are many directors I want to work with like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Raju Hirani and Dibakar Bannerjee.” Would she be shedding her glamourous image in future? “I don’t think I have the choice of shedding it,” she smiles. “But if you feel happy and confident about who you are and exude that, what more can you ask for?” she signs off.
