Now, Transport and Home Minister R Ashoka seems to have taken the cue. The minister will be taking a bus from KSRTC City Bus Stand (CBS) to Kuvempunagar to mark the beginning of ‘Bus Day’, on April 9 in the city.

KSRTC Divisional Controller, Mysore Urban division, M N Srinivas told media on Thursday here that, the minister will launch the ‘day’, that would be observed regularly every month. On account of this, additional buses will be plied to four different routes on that day from CBS- to KRS, J P Nagar, Kuvempunagar and Hebbal covering Infosys.

The motive behind the initiative is to encourage people-especially vehicle users to board KSRTC buses, leaving behind their own transport.  In addition to this, the newly built bus stand at Kuvempunagar will be dedicated by the minister. Following day, the bus stand at Yelwal will be opened. Both the bus stands have turned into a reality under Jawaharlal Nehru National  Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM).
