This novel punishment was meted out by the Andhra Pradesh High Court while hearing the anticipatory bail petition of the culprit.
Justice B Chandrakumar asked the accused to surrender to the police and handed down the punishment. Asking the accused to surrender before the police, the judge told him to sweep the premises of Gandhi Hospital for one hour daily.
M Dinesh Kumar, 21, a software engineer working with Dell Computers, was on would harass girls while riding his motorbike along with friends. They would come from behind unwary girls and snatch their dupattas and ride off. On March 21, Dinesh Kumar and his friend Balarangasai, riding a bike pulled off the girls dupattas in Gautamnagar in Malkajgiri area here. On hearing the screams of the girls, the people managed to stop the bike and caught Balarangasai which Dinesh Kumar escaped. The police registered a case against the two men under sections 354 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
