The blood donation camp organised by Barke Police Station, Bharath Scouts and Guides and NCC Cadets evoked a good response with many students coming forth to donate their blood.

After inaugurating the programme, Bharath Scouts and Guides District President I A Kairanna told Deccan Herald that donating blood is a very good initiative as it saves life.
One should spread the message and publicise the initiative, he said.

SI Shivprakash of Barke Police Station had come with a team of cops who wanted to donate blood.

“We want to save lives in every way possible and donating blood is a wonderful way,” he said.

A first time donor Preetesh said he was scared to donate but now he feels a sense of satisfaction that he has contributed to the society and he too can save a life.

Organiser of the programme Ganesh Kudva who was on a mission to get as many people to donate blood with his door-to-door campaign said that many youth have come forward though there is a poor response from the houses he had gone knocking asking for blood.

“Many people have encouraged with words, but we want blood,” he said and added that very soon he is going to start a eye donation campaign.

As many as 35 bottles of blood was collected during the camp.
