Revenge politics cast shadows on HIMS: Revanna

College will lose affiliation if Medical Council of India officials inspect
Last Updated 22 April 2011, 18:13 IST

Speaking to press reporters on Friday, Revanna said state government had failed to provide infrastructure to the Medical College which was set up over five years ago. “This has effectively meant violation of norms set by Medical Council of India (MCI) .

Forget the infrastructure, the government has not even hired required number of teaching and non-teaching staff either. If MCI officials visit the college and discover these lapses, they may even recommend closure of the college,” he said.

Though former medical education minister Ramachandra Gowda had sanctioned nearly    ` 100 cr with ` 38 cr for Hassan Medical College, and Rs 60 cr to super speciality hospital here, the Chief Minister is not allowing the release of funds. “Though Shimoga Medical
College was approved around the same time as Hassan one, the works pertaining to former project have reached an end with concrete roads being laid around that college; and Hassan college is grappling for funds.

This goes to prove that the Chief Minister is all out to practice vengeance politics against this district,” he said.

Insisting that government immediately fills 300 vacant posts of nurses in the district hospital here, Revanna said dialysis unit at the hospital is rendered useless since technicians has not been hired for the purpose. State government should immediately attend to these issues,” he said.

“There is no question of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy retiring from politics,”  Revanna said, when asked if his more-famous brother was contemplating seriously on retiring, as mentioned by HDK himself recently.

“BJP is basing its politics on money. This will not go a long way. While Kumaraswamy is letting people of Karnataka know the truth behind the leaders’ ill gotten wealth, some are looking at him with suspicion,” he said.

In a rather sarcastic tone, Revanna ridiculed the alleged attempts by Chief Minister to know the details of Devegowda family’s assets and properties, the former minister said instead of instructing his Chief Secretary to do this job, it would have been better if the CM had asked the brothers themselves.

“We would have given him all the details ourselves,” he said. MLC Patel Shivaram was also present at the press meet.
