The interactive session received a good response as the parents of children attending the camp threw a volley of queries to the experts to get answers to their doubts and apprehensions about children and their health.

Children and food!

To a query from a parent that her kid do not take proper food, Dr Krishnamurthy said that it would be wrong to force the children to make them eat more than the what the child can consume.

“It is better not to force the children as far as food is concerned. The children will have food when they feel hungry. It is incorrect to force them to any particular kind of food,” he said.

In a jocular manner, he added that children were neither Anna Hazare or Gandhiji to go on fast.

Another parent wanted to know about the fear of her child about commode.
Krishnamurthy explained that his kid also feared having bath in the tub because he watched a English movie where tubs are filled with crocodiles.

Imagination

“The children will have an amazing imagination power which takes them to a different world. The parents must tap this power to help children think positive things,” he added.
He also advised the children to allow the natural growth of a child. If the parents want the child to grow up early in terms of having a good physical growth, it can have adverse impact like obesity and others, he said.

Dr Anil Kumar of Dixit Health Care centre provided the mothers with the tips on home remedies for the minor health issues of children like cough, cold and other problems. Common fruit like pomegranate provides relief from excessive diarrhoea.

The traditional Indian food knowledge is the best for growing children, he said.
Ravindra Joshi, Director of the camp said that the Sunday’s programme was part of the initiative to educate parents on the right manner to bring children up.

“The summer camp should not be restricted to children alone. Parents should also get few essential tips,” he told Deccan Herald.
