Here are two such young entrepreneurs who want to leave their imprints on the ‘e-world’ with their website http://www.eduorb.com/ which they claim to be a one stop destination to the world of information, knowledge, education and networking.

Twenty-year -old Edmond Fernandes, a student of Father Muller Medical College, and Manoj Shetty, Director of Next Solutions, collaborated with Web Designer Jaijith J of Technothesis to launch ‘eduorb’ and give netizens a new arena to explore the world.

Speaking to City Herald, Edmond reveals that the team came up with the concept to fill the lacunae in social networking sites as many don’t cater to the user’s needs.

“A lot of time is spent on social networking sites but very less knowledge is gained. Hence we decided to design this unique portal in a youth perspective overlapping education, information and networking,” says Edmond.

The portal has many unique features. Allowing the registered user to post classifieds for free, one can find a paying guest accommodation, a job or even buy second hand textbooks, magazines and other items in one click.

Another feature ‘Project Guide’ helps students seek professional help if they have doubts in their subject. “Many teachers have registered as users and offer free help and advice the students,” says Edmond.

The website is also uploading the details of different colleges and courses offered, so that a user can make a right decision in picking the college to pursue education. One who is interested to pursue education overseas also can find the details of the colleges abroad.

“We will be very soon adding a notice board where all necessary information like exam timetables, main events and other major happenings relating to the student community will be posted,” he adds.

With section ‘Featured’ one can write their hearts out on any topic of their choice and with ‘Techno World’ one can be updated on the latest gizmos. With ‘polls’ one can cast their precious vote on any issue on discussion and the ones with photographic eye can upload their pictures and get opinions from users worldwide. Those planning to pack their bags for a vacation can find details of a holiday spot in section ‘Random Vacation’.
One can even calculate the distance from one destination to another. With fun zone one can get movie reviews or even play a game. Those passionate about networking can interact with their friends online or join communities of their like and partake in discussions.

“It’s been almost one month since launch and we already have more than 150 registered users and more than 10,000 visitors to our website,” says Manoj and hopes that with more users this website will be a better platform for the youth.

“The website is not limited to Mangalore. We have plans to extend to Middle East and European countries in near future,” says Edmond and reveals that everything is free for a user and the website works on an advertisement revenue model.

Responding to the query about starting a business entrepreneurship at a young age, both the founders reply that age in not a criterion. If one does things legally and morally, there is an entire world to win.
