'Intentional delay on Bill against cow slaughter'

“The Bill has been intentionally sent to the Union government. It is nothing but a self-centred politics to block the Bill to appease a particular community. Educated voters should contemplate seriously on this state of affairs,” Rama Jois said here.

He was speaking at a function organised by Karnataka Milk Distributors’ Federation. The Rajya Sabha member  said constitutional values cannot be realised in letter and spirit unless total prohibition and cow slaughter are enforced in the country.

Nine crore signatures

As many as nine crore signatures have been collected against cow slaughter but there has been no recognition of the people’s opinion, he regretted.

He said Rs one lakh crore being utilised for purchase of fertilisers should be utilised to increase cattleheads and farming should be made more cow-centric.

Deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission Ramachandra Gowda, music director Hamsalekha and others were present on the occasion.
