IIT at Muddenahalli: Moily
Union Minister M Veerappa Moily said that IIT will be set up in Muddenahalli, birth place of Sir M Visvesvaraya.
Addressing the Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha 8 assembly segment booth-level workers meet at Vidyanagar near BIAL on Saturday, he said, IIT has been sanctioned to the State on a special priority.
Earlier, Union government with an intention of setting up 8 IITs across the nation had sanctioned 1 IIT for the State also, for which State failed to provide suitable land, as a result of which it lost the proposal.
Now it is because of my request that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has given permission to set up an additional, 9th IIT in the Karnataka. This will be set up at Muddehalli in memory of Sir M Visvesvaraya, Moily said.
