Consumer forum aids autistic child

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum at Bangalore (Urban) has come to the aid of a six-year-old autistic child who was dismissed from a school for no valid reason.
Finding the school guilty of deficient service, the Forum President S S Nagarale has ordered the Kara4Kids to repay Rs 36,000 to the child’s parent with Rs 1000 as costs.
Wing Commander T A Sreenath had admitted Rishabh his son to this school for which the total fee was Rs 75,450. He paid up Rs 30,000 as advance.
Sreenath was then asked to pay up the balance of Rs 45,450 and an additional Rs 5,000 per month for an exclusive shadow facility which was not mentioned at the time of the admission . He had by now paid up Rs 50,000 and urged them to waive the shadow facility payment. Instead, his son was expelled from the school without prior notice. He urged them to re-consider but they did not.
He complained to the forum to which the school claimed that since he did not agree to pay for the shadow facility he was at fault and his complaint was not valid. But Forum ruled that the school was unable to show documents to prove that the complainant had agreed to pay the shadow fee. Hence it was guilty of deficient service and would have to refund his money.
Credit card misuse
Consumers should be very careful while using their credit cards. This was proved in the case of Suresh G A who bought a baby walker from Kids Choice in Shambhaji Arcade and paid up Rs 890 with his credit card. He later found out that the shop owner had swiped his card twice for this amount. When he complained they gave evasive answers and this Forum has ordered it to repay Rs 890 with costs of Rs 1000.
