The students are all excited to enter the corporate world with a big bang. Amidst their preparations for the last semester exams, some of the students who are placed, shared their experiences with Metrolife.

Prof Jagadeesh, the Placement Officer, is elated about the achievements of the youngsters and calls it a milestone.

“It’s for the first time that over 1,000 students together have been placed from BMS College of Engineering and BMS Institute of Technology. Nearly 150 students got attractive packages offering them up to Rs 10 lakh per annum,” he says.

He informs that companies started hiring the students from September itself and around 100 companies visited till date. They range from IT and financial to hardware sectors. As a student can have only two job offers according to the placement policy, some are trying their luck outside campus too.

Anvesh Rai, a final year Computer Science student who has two job offers, says that the pre-placement training sessions conducted by the Placement Cell were handy. “I attended those training classes which were helpful to a great extent. Many corporate companies conducted the sessions and trained us on various skills,” he says.

He informs how his senior friends helped him in getting the background of the companies, preparing resume and facing the exams confidently. He says his extra-curricular activities impressed the interviewer in the HR round.

“My active involvement in cultural activities and AIESEC events added weightage to my CV. They were impressed with my answers related to managerial skills, leadership qualities and funding. Many of my senior friends say that work will be hectic at corporate offices. But I am eager to have that kind of experience,” he smiles.

Surya Ramachandran, an Electrical and Electronics student, is happy with the job offers she got through campus recruitment. “As I was preparing for GRE, I was not that serious about the placement. Later, through my preparations and tips from the senior friends, I was able to get placed in two companies,” she says.

Vaibhav Doshi, an Electrical and Electronics student, got placed in a software development company in October itself. “As it was too early, none of my friends were serious about the placement. So, I studied on my own. Whenever I had a doubt, I cleared it with my batch mates studying in other departments,” he explains.

Pavan Kumar, a Computer Science student, feels that his thorough preparations for GATE helped him get two job offers. “Most of the core companies look for candidates who are strong in programming and basic concepts. So I focussed more on technical aspects and understood the basic concepts thoroughly. Most of the questions asked in the interview were framed to test the analytical skills of the candidates. Being well-prepared, I faced all the rounds easily,” he adds.
