Judicial Magistrate Roopa, who took cognizance of offences made out against Lenin and two others, ordered issue of summons to them on a criminal complaint filed by Ranjitha on December 31 last year accusing the trio of outraging the modesty of a woman, criminal intimidation and extortion.

Ranjitha had submitted that Lenin Karuppan and his friends and fellow conspirators, Aarthi Rao and advocate Sridhar created morphed video images of Nityananda and also that of her.

The accused, she charged, had released these video footages to media with an intent to extort money from her.

Nityananda landed in a controversy in March last year after a TV channel aired a purported video footage showing him in a compromising position with the Tamil actress.

He was later arrested from Solan district in Himachal Pradesh on April 21 last year and granted conditional bail on June 11 after spending 53 days in judicial custody. He is facing charges of rape and criminal intimidation.
