Team effort spurs CIL to huge victory

Bangalore, June 4, DHNS

Varun’s four-wicket haul along with half-centuries from Kiran and Manjunath helped CIL Sports Club post a five-wicket win over Bosch Sports Club, Naganathpura in the KSCA Group II, Division II league-cum-knockout tournament.

Batting first, Bosch rode on half-centuries from Chanabasappa (55) and Ranjan (58) to a compettitive 210 for six in 30 overs, despite CIL’s Varun scalping four wickets.
In reply, Kiran (71) and Manjunath (53) guided CIL to 215 for five in 28 overs.
In another match, Vijay Kumar and Ajay N struck half-centuries to power Abrasive Technologies to a five-wicket victory over Bangalore Telephones CC.

After restricting Bangalore Telephones to 205 for five in 30 overs, Abrasive Technologies rode on Vijay’s 61 and Ajay’s 69 to chase down the target with five balls to spare.

Brief scores: Bosch Sports Club, Naganathpura: 210/6 in 30 overs (Chanabasappa 55, Ranjan 58; Varun 4-35) lt to CIL Sports Club: 215/5 in 28 overs (Dayanand 47, Kiran 71, Manjunath 53; Harsha 2-46, Raghu 2-24).

Bosch Sports Club, Bangalore: 118 all out in 18.1 overs (Purushotham 37; Giridhar Koppilar 4-18, Arun Pandy 2-23) lt to ITC Sports Club: 121/1 in 17.5 overs (Koushik Udupa 68 n.o., Ashok 26).

Bangalore Telephones CC: 205/5 in 30 overs (Santhosh Chavan 43, Mothilal Rathod 68, Sandeep G 37 n.o.) lt to Abrasive Technologies CC: 209/5 in 29.1 overs (Vijay Kumar 61, Santhosh Girimaji 32, Ajay N 69, Rajeev Girmaji 27; M Arun 2-35).
Karnataka State Forest Sports Board: 176/8 in 27 overs (Aman Raj 49, Srinath 63; Rajesh Singh 2-20, Pramod Kamath 2-50, Raju Kalal 3-14) bt Corporation Bank: 173/8 in 30 overs (Nishanth Patil 32, Murugesh 41, Vinu Prasad N 30; Aman Raj 3-42, Srinath 3-17).

BHEL (EPD) Sports Club: 132 all out in 27.1 overs (Ramesh 39; Sunil Kumar DH 2-23, Santhosh 2-19, L Prashanth 4-28) lt to AGO Recreation Club: 135/0 in 14.3 overs (Shashank 36 n.o., Avinash 83 n.o.).
