The wedding reception of Rohan Murthy and Laxmi Venu was attended by who’s who of the City on Sunday.

The grand ballroom of Leela Palace was teeming with politicians, bureaucrats and corporate honchos as they waited in queue to greet the newlyweds.

Rohan, son of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy and Laxmi, daughter of TVS managing director Venu Srinivasan and Mallika Srinivasan got married in Chennai on June 5.

More than 2,500 guests were invited to the reception. Governor H S Bhardwaj, Union Minister S M Krishna, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Shoba Karandjale, H D Revanna, R V Deshpande, Nandan and Rohini Nilekani, Kris Gopalakrishnan, Azim Premji, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Mohandas Pai, Girish Karnad, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, actresses Leelavathi and Jayanthi were some of the prominent people who came to wish the couple.

The winding stairs leading to the venue were decorated with carnations, coconut fronds and lotus flowers.

The stage, where the couple stood, had a light yet attractive floral decoration done with anthurium in white, red and peach shades, white orchids, carnation, rajnigandha and
lotus flowers.        

Resplendent in indigo blue outfit and an  embroidered dupatta, Laxmi wore a chunky, sparkling neckpiece while Rohan was sartorial elegance in  white shirt, black suit and a maroon tie. Narayana and Sudha Murthy enthusiastically introduced their son, daughter-in-law and her parents to each and every guest who came on the stage.

To avoid overcrowding, food was served at ten different places in the hotel. The vegetarian spread mainly had South Indian dishes.

Some of the items on the menu included grilled green asparagus with sauted mushroom, baked corn, spinach and mushroom, pan fried polenta with baby vegetables, assorted pastas with vegetable selection, chaats, vada, semiyagi with kadalai gassi, menthil, kadubu with young mango pickle, sambar, rasam, fresh kaju and guchhi curry, bajai manili upkari, ulli thiyal, kuthi kothmir vankaya, avial, bisibele bath, puliyogre, jola rotti; poori, dosa, mysore pak, raagi manni, carrot halwa, godhi payasa, paenu with badam milk.
