HRD centres to help 10,000 youth get jobs this fiscal
Human Resource Development Centres (HRDCs), the new avatar of employment exchanges in Karnataka, are expected to help 10,000 youth get jobs this financial year.
Vishnukanth Chatpalli, Executive Director of the Karnataka Vocational Training and Skills Development Corporation (KVTSDC) said the State Government had taken the lead in providing employability and employment opportunities to the semi-urban and rural youth through these centres.
“HRDCs help KVTSDC to provide implementable solutions with a scalable model as part of its comprehensive employment strategy aimed at sectoral and regional development to help reverse the process of marginalisation of labour in rural areas, especially among vulnerable sections,” said Chatpalli. KVTSDC is under the Department of Employment and Training of the State’s Ministry of Labour. HRDCs will help not only fresh graduates but also school dropouts to find suitable jobs.
KVTSDC is looking to revamp the existing employment exchanges as HRDCs in a phased manner under a unique PPP model, for which the Government has sanctioned Rs 300 crore. The pilot phase started with the first HRDC in Mangalore in 2009.
The second HRDC was set up in Bijapur in 2010. HRDCs will also be set up in Gulbarga, Hubli, Bellary, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga and Udupi in the coming days.
“An HRDC was inaugurated in Kolar on Saturday. We have invested more than Rs 38 lakh for this centre. This is run with the support of iRize. Among the other firms which succeeded in winning the tender to run HRDCs is Team Lease,” said Chatpalli.
Explaining their association with KVTSDC, iRize head Ramesh said: “It is a matter of great pride for us at Manipal Education to be awarded the mandate to operate three key HRDCs by the Government. This mandate reinforces Manipal Education’s role as an end-to-end integrated learning and training solutions provider.
