Programmers from India best in math, logic, claims study
While India’s programmers are superior in mathematical and logical abilities, they seem to miss out on upcoming programming areas such as web development to their peers in the US.
As a result, their skills are preferred by companies like Oracle, Salesforce and EBay, while American programmers possess skills that appeal to new-age companies like Facebook, Google and Twitter.
The survey, by Professional Social Networking Service Guild, conducted with around 5,00,000 professionals over two years, reveals that while Indian programmers do well in languages like advance C++, US programmers outshine Indians in web development tools and are also ahead in mainstream programmes like C and C++. The Americans, unsurprisingly, also outscore Indians in English language communication.
“The survey gives an idea of where Indian programmers can improve and things they are good at,” said Guild Managing Director (India) Manjunath. “We hope Indian programmers take note of areas in which they could improve their performance and work on it to remain competitive with their global peers,” he added.
