Moily distributes offer letters

Thousands of job aspirants from many districts throng the employment mela at CB Pur

Union Minister for Corporate Affairs, M Veerappa Moily who inaugurated the Skill Development and Job Mela, distributed offer letters to some of the candidates who got jobs at the SJCIT college, venue of the mela, in the city on Saturday.

The offer letters were given away to 10 youths, including M Shivakumar and T Manjunath of Sira taluk.

The duo have got jobs at the Bangalore unit of Coffee Day. Shashikumar, Sridhar, Doddaiah and Nagaraj have bagged jobs elsewhere.

Shivakumar and Manjunath, both of whom have passed SSLC, told Deccan Herald they came to know about the job mela through newspapers and had submitted their applications at the Gouribidanur job mela unit.

Aspirants had gathered in huge numbers for the job fair. Large queues were found in front of the stalls put up by various employers. They submitted their resume and applications.

“The fair has been organised for the benefit of job aspirants in the limits of Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency. As many as 10,000 people will get jobs and more than 100 companies are participating. The mela will continue on Sunday,” Moily told reporters.

Thousands visited Mela


Thousands of job aspirants from various taluks and other districts took part in the mela held for the  Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency.

The arrangements at the SJCIT college venue of the mela was special decked up and preemptive measures were taken for the purpose.

The signboards at the entrance of the venue guided the aspirants to the stalls of the companies based on their educational qualification and companies requirement.

A tight police security had been provided at the venue to prevent any untoward incidents. Apart from Chikkaballapur, job aspirants from Kolar, Tumkur and Ramanagara participated in the mela.

Private school buses and KSTRC buses had been pressed into the service to help the aspirants arriving at the venue. A good number of physically challenged, some of whom arrived in wheelchairs and tricycle participated in the mela.

Aspirants queuing up in front of the company stalls to give their resume was a common sight. Some them were carrying up to 20 resumes with them. The representatives of the companies who collected have assured to get back to us in a week’s time, said a job aspirant.

District incharge minister Shobha Karandlaje, MLAs K P Bachegowda, Dr M C Sudhakar, N H Shivashankar Reddy, N Sampangi, Venkataswamy, Deputy Commissioner Dr N Manjula, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer B S Shekharappa, Nirmalananda Swami of the Adichunchanagiri branch Mutt and others took part in the programme.
