Cost of bridge increased from Rs six to Rs 12 crore
The cabinet is likely to give its nod for the much awaited two projects for Mangalore - the International Golf Course in Tannirbavi and Ropeway Bridge from Sulthan Batteri to Bengre.
The cabinet note is already prepared and the meeting will discuss the proposal on Thursday, informed Deputy Speaker and MLA N Yogish Bhat.
Speaking at the inauguration of Sanskritika Kalotsava-2011- a cultural fest for the school and college students organised by the Mangalore Airport Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee to mark the diamond jubilee of Mangalore Airport at Town Hall on Monday, he said the bidding procedure for the two dream projects of Mangalore will be taken up soon after receiving the Cabinet approval.
The golf course will come up in 100 acre in Tannirbavi at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore. The work will be taken in Public-Private Partnership model. He said the team of experts from NITK has revised the Ropeway Bridge plan and certain changes have been made. According to the new plan, the height of the ropeway will be 25 feet, and width will be 10 feet.
The project estimation has been revised from Rs six crore to Rs 12 crore, he informed.
Earlier inaugurating the programme, District-in-Charge Minister Krishna J Palemar said the State government has reserved Rs 15 crore for the development of Mangalore Airport, in the budget for the year 2011-12. As Rs 175 crore is required for the extension of the run way in 154 acres of acquired land, the State government would sanction 25 percent of the required amount and the Airport Authorities should demand the Central government for rest of the amount, he added.
Various cultural competitions were held for the students from 1st to 5th Standard on the first day of Kalotsava.
