<p> A police inspector and a constable attached to K P Agrahara police station were at the receiving end when the mob took revenge for allegedly beating up a BCom student for a trivial reason. <br /> <br />According to sources, Shashi Kumar, a student of Vivekananda College, was drinking juice at a shop near the theatre around 10.30 pm when police inspector B U Pradeep and a constable on patrolling directed him to go home as it was late night. When he challenged, the policeman reportedly lost his cool and beat him black and blue, causing serious injuries. <br /><br />Hell broke loose when a large crowd came out of the theatre after the night show. Seeing Shashi Kumar lying on ground in an unconscious state, they attacked the policemen and locked them up in a room. Some of them even staged a protest seeking immediate action against the policemen. Soon, higher officials rushed to the spot, pacified the angry mob and took the trapped officials to the station.<br /><br />Shashikumar, who suffered injuries, has been shifted to Gayatri Hospital at Vijayanagar. <br /><br />DCP (West) Sidramappa told Deccan Herald that many youngsters create nuisance while in an inebriated state on Magadi Road every day. <br /><br />“The entire stretch is congested due to the ongoing metro rail work. Shashikumar entered into an argument with the police when he was asked to move towards the pavement. The inspector and constable tried to push him from the centre of the road. He fell down and sustained minor injuries. None of them locked up our staff and manhandled. Shashikumar is out of danger,” the DCP said.<br /><br />However, Shashi Kumar’s relative has a different story to tell. According to her, Shashi Kumar, who was injured on his neck, face and knees, is in a serious condition. “Some of his blood nerves on the neck are severely damaged,” she said.</p>
