As a result, students and professors of the college are forced to use open ground outside the college to relieve themselves.

All there

The toilet complex, built with funds from the City Municipal Council, are ready for use with the construction of urinals and commodes. The water facility was made available from the two water tanks located behind the school.

But, with no VIP having inaugurated it yet, the toilet complex is under lock.

Inspection

Six months ago, following a report about the toilet, top officers including CMC officer Sudhakar, block education officer M R Krishnappa, CMC member Chandrashekhar and the vice principal of government pre-university college visited the site.

As all the required amenities were ready, the concerned authorities assured it will be opened in a week’s time after they consulted the builders. Weeks turned into months, but the toilets remain closed.

Neighbouring trouble

Located in the playground of Government Pre-University College, the Government First Grade College has students from border and rural areas who have registered for various courses like BA, BCom and BSc computer science.

But. they are denied the most basic of amenities in the absence of a toilet, thanks to some unnecessary formalities that have held up the inauguration of the toilet.

“Though the government allocates huge amount of funds to the education department these toilets are victims of mere negligence of the officers,” Venkatesh, a student, complained.

The students have made an appeal to the concerned authorities to inspect the site immediately and get the toilet thrown open to use.
