Pooja Gandhi is back after a fairly long hiatus.
And her comeback vehicle is an out and out commercial film. Pooja admits that she’s not only excited but totally content with how the film Hare Rama Hare Krishna has shaped up.
Debutant director C V Ashok has taken pains to make Hare Rama Hare
Krishna appear real. He wanted his first venture to forge an instant connect with the people.
With no background in the film industry, his interest in animation and subsequent studies in the same inspired him to plunge into film-making. “I readied the script and went to a couple of actors before Pooja and Srimurali instantly agreed to act in it. I feel these two young people are best suited for the character,” said Ashok, who says he intended to project the problems that plague the young today. “Unemployment and corruption sow the seed for rowdyism. People take to nefarious activities because of lack of enough jobs. That’s why the young go astray,” Ashok pointed out.
He said that even the title of film has been selected to convey a message of peace to the people. “It’s a prayer and I wanted it to be the title of the film. That people must end violence and lead peaceful lives is the crux of the story,” he added.
Pooja said that the script and the characters have a sense of newness. “It’s a commercial film. Action-packed and entertaining. There’s something for everyone. I play a homely character. Like every young girl, I fall in love and the consequences of falling in love is what the film is all about. It doesn’t project love in a negative light but surely brings forth the repercussions,” said Pooja. She likes the songs that have been composed by Ilayaraja and Hamsalekha.
“The combination is striking,” she said. Srimurali couldn’t stop raving about the makeover he has undergone for the film. “I lost 15 kgs for the character. I play three different characters and emote three different emotions. A sober young man, a lovable character and the last is a rebellious one,” revealed Srimurali, who also feels that the character gave him a lot of strength as a person.
