Chinnada Taali
Modern Ramayana with a twist
Kannada (U/A) Cast: Tilak Raj, Devraj, Tungasree Director: Vemagal Jagannath
Folklore, tested themes of Ramayana depicted with a touch of modern disarray and of course Devraj playing super cop/samaritan!
Chinnada Taali is a metaphor for love and competency of marriage.
The movie starts with our protagonist Vinod (Tilak) eloping with and marrying Vimala (Tungasree). Vinod’s tycoon father cannot digest this - he has promised his son’s hand to an unscrupulous politician’s daughter. He sets out to set things right and predictability follows.
Mediocre efforts by the cinematographer and the editor do not go unnoticed. Maruti Mirajkar has created simple 2/4 situational songs for the movie including a song set on Ramayana.
Once married, Vinod is forced to walk out on his wife by his father, who tries his best to get him married to the politician’s daughter. But he fails miserably as the sanctity of the Chinnada Taali (mangalsutra) overpowers all else!
Devraj has a credible role, portraying a character that helps the young couple to sort out the issue.
Like always, he plays a super cop with modesty. Tilak has gotten back to his kissing ways. He once again romances two ladies and surely gives Emran Hashmi a run for hismoney.
