Shettar group won't write to high command
The Jagadish Shettar faction in the State BJP on Thursday dropped its plan to write to the party central leadership on the political developments in the State and seek its intervention.
The group, sulking ever since Yeddyurappa-backed D V Sadananda Gowda emerged victorious at the chief ministerial election held on Wednesday, had planned to write to BJP patriarch L K Advani and party national president Nitin Gadkari about the secret ballot allegedly being rigged.
Gowda secured 62 votes and Shettar 56.However, Shettar’s followers, at a breakfast meeting held at his residence, decided not to write to the party’s bosses in Delhi lest they seek proof to corroborate the allegations, sources said.
With the central leaders busy with the parliament session, the Shettar group also dropped plans to meet them in the national capital.
Demand 50:50
The Shettar group is understood to have sought at least 50 per cent share in the Cabinet berths, besides plum boards and corporations, as its main demand.
All incumbent party nominees to boards and corporations are likely to be asked to step down soon, sources said.
In a related development, the party central leadership is understood to have taken exception to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s remark that he would again occupy the top post in six months.
They want...
* More than 50 pc berths in Cabinet as BSY’s man got CM post
* Prime portfolios like power, revenue, home
* Revamp of core committee
* Equal share of posts in boards/corporations
* Protection to legislators who are not supporting Yeddyurappa
* No remote control to run the government
