Wine Mela, is being organised in association with Karnataka Wine Board, Government of Karnataka, for the first time in Mysore. Entrepreneurs from Bijapur, Channapatna, Mudhol and Coorg have set their shops here.

Speaking to City Herald, an entrepreneur of Nandi Valley Winery from Bijapur said that the processing unit is in Bijapur and the grapes are brought from the vineyard of Nasik. Though the locally grown grapes are also used in wine making it cannot match the flavour of the Nasik grown grapes.

There is a full-fledged distillery at Bijapur, which produces a fine quality of wine.
Explaining further, he said there is misconception that red grapes are used for red wine and green ones for white. But it is the same grape that is used and it is only the processing technique that differs. Moreover, the grapes are best grown in Nasik as it has a conducive climate for vineyards. As it is very expensive to bring wine from Maharashtra belt, as it involves extra tax and other procedures, grapes are brought and the whole processing is done in Bijapur.

Elite Vintage Winery India Pvt Ltd., at Mudhol, Bagalkot district, that has also opened a stall at the mela says that the winery here uses only grapes available in the Krishna belt. The prices are quite reasonable and ranges from just Rs 84 to Rs 800.

The Heritage Winery of Bangalore belt says that they have a 15-acre plot where grapes are grown and the bottling unit is in Channapatna.

If you do not want to choose from these, you have a wide range of home made Coorg wine, suitable to your taste. These purely natural wine contains medicinal values and the entrepreneur Veena Sudhir says the product does not have yeast and alcohol.
Recommending her product as completely organic, Veena says you have a wide range of wines made of grapes, apple, pineapple, chikku, gooseberry, sugar cane, jack fruit, guave, dates, raisins, ragi, rice, beetroot, tomato, tea leaves, curry leaves, coffee, betel and others.

According to various studies it has time and again proven that wine maintains immune system, helps prevents strokes, longer life and if consumed moderately it can even reduce your tummy pouch.

Many people want to start drinking wine in their adult years, because by this time they would have come to a conclusion that it adds flavour to meals and is also of health benefits. Many a time, you can find people go as far as to ask which brand of wine is healthiest!

The researches don’t do research based on brands of wine, but they do research on ‘ all wine’.
