SUSE Linux is Attachmate business arm

“SUSE Linux will have a separate marketing team and sales force so that it would have a focused growth,” said Attachmate Vice President of Engineering for (NetIQ business) Somesh Singh, said. Attachmate had acquired Novell a few months ago.

Attachmate has split Novell’s assets and has “aligned” it with NetIQ, while keeping SUSE as separate business unit and “open source arm” of the group.

SUSE Linux business unit is worth US$170 million, while Novell, which comprises of productivity, end-user and collaboration products, is worth US$400 million. Attachmate and NetIQ, the other units under the group are worth US$250 million and US$350 million each.
