The Hyderabad police on Monday took into custody a woman reporter, Vatsala, of Prakasam district along with two others after investigations proved that her charges of sexual harassment against a senior IAS official were false .

The reporter had approached the bureaucrat in the garb of penning  a compilation of writings by the said bureaucrat. A Vidyasagar, the principal secretary in the department of Tribal Affairs, who is accused of sexual harassments said: “Woman reporter Vatsala met me in 2006 and introduced herself as a publisher of Kadambam and told me that she was collecting articles from several others IAS officers who were into  writings.”

The officer, who has a literary bend, also gave her some of his articles and writings in good faith. However, some times later he came to know that the woman journalist had misused his acquaintance for her personal gains. Vatsala reportedly approached revenue officials and demanded speedy action in her favour, after she encroached into lands of dalits at Ramayam palli village, of Hanumanthupadu Mandal, in Prakasham district.

“When I came to know the details through Dalit leaders, I requested the collector of Prakasam district to take necessary action and do justice to the poor dalits,” Vidyasagar said.
