Summons to BSY, 14 others

All the 15 accused will have to appear before the court on August 27.

Advocate Sirajin Basha had filed five complaints against Yeddyurappa and others, and the summons have been issued in the second complaint.

The complaint lists three instances of illegal denotification of land. The first case pertains to denotification of land measuring two acres 31 guntas in Arakere village, Bangalore South taluk.

The second relates to denotification of land in survey number 51/1 of Devarchikkanahalli, also in Bangalore South taluk. The third instance refers to illegal denotification of land in survey No 42/1A2, 42/4-A2 and 42/2B of Geddalahalli in Bangalore East taluk.

The others named in the complaint are N Akka Mahadevi, Mahabaleshwara N S, Satyakumari, Mohan Raj, V Prakash, Kamakshamma, N Manjunath, V Anil Kumar, B Ramesh, Shantha Devi, Shantha Bai, Ismail Sheriff, V Manjunath and  K Shivappa.

Judge N K Sudhindra Rao directed to register cases against the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act.

Datta’s plaint

The court also referred to Lokayukta police, the complaint filed by JD(S) leader Y S V Datta against Yeddyurappa alleging that he favoured a particular company in awarding contract for the Upper Bhadra Project (UBP). The investigation agency has been directed to submit the inquiry report to the court on September 3.

Datta, in his complaint, had stated that two companies were shortlisted for the Rs 500-crore UBP package-2. Kirloskar Brothers and Shankar, a joint venture company (JVC), quoted Rs 1,025 crore while RNS Infrastructure-Jyothi Limited quoted Rs 1,033 crore. The tender was awarded to RNS-Jyothi, which is blacklisted in Himachal Pradesh, Datta stated. The complaint also states that the government released Rs 130 crore even before work on the project began.

According to the complaint, as a quid pro quo, Murudeshwar Company, a subsidiary of RNS group of companies, paid Rs 13 crore to Dhavalagiri Properties and Sahyadri Care and Diagnostics, owned by Yeddyurappa’s sons and son-in-law.

HC defers hearing on ex-CM’s plea

The High Court of Karnataka on Monday adjourned hearing of the petition filed by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, challenging the indictment by Lokayukta in its report on illegal mining. Senior counsel Ravi B Naik, representing Yeddyurappa, submitted that former Lokayukta Justice had ado­pted in toto the report of Dr U V Singh without  any inquiry. He further submitted that Yeddyurappa in his tenure had not granted any mining permits or lease. The Division Bench headed by Justice K L Manjunath sought the report by Singh.
