Auto drivers dominate bus stand
Auto drivers at the municipal bus stand at Robertsonpet have become a major cause of concern for the commuters.
A major portion of it is occupied by the auto drivers who relentlessly wait for the customers.
The bus stand being the prime spot for the private and state road transport buses is one of the busiest in the town. It has just two entrances meant for entry and exit for the continuos bus transport which results in extreme chaos.
As it is the commuters have to battle with the unstoppable buses. To add to it the auto drivers aggravate the whole problem by encroaching the place. This has resulted in a lot of inconvenience for the travellers as it takes ages for them to come out of the bus stand.
The problem doesn’t end here. The Kolar and Bangarpet buses are parked at the bus stand in an extremely haphazard manner. If the bus drivers have to cross this they are blocked severely by the autos that are parked at the entrance. The loud honking by the bus drivers seems to have no effect on the auto drivers.
The traffic police have failed to take any action against them even though the bus stand is adjacent to the police station. The auto drivers do not bother to address to the notice sent by the police.
The DySP had warned auto drivers recently that if they do not follow the norms they will be punished severely. The auto drivers have proven immune to such admonitions, turning a deaf ear to the police officer’s warnings.
The locals have complained that due to the negligence of the police a lot of commuters are at the receiving end of such arrogant behaviour of the auto drivers.
