No relief yet for former K'taka minister, son

Last Updated 10 August 2011, 11:14 IST

Though Katta Subramanya Naidu, his son Katta Jagadish and S V Srinivas, Managing Director of Itaska software firm (who is also in judicial custody) moved their bail applications together, it was only the bail application of Srinivas that was assigned to Justice Arvind Kumar today. When the application of Srinivas came up for hearing today, the court ordered notice to Lokayukta and granted time to it (Lokayukta) till Aug 12 to file its objections.

When counsel for Naidu and Jagadish requested the court to hear their bail applications tomorrow, it acceded to the request. The special Lokayukta Court had rejected the trio's bail pleas in connection with the KIADB land scam and irregularities in securing compensation for those whose lands were acquired.

The court remanded them in judicial custody till Aug 22, after which police took them into custody. Naidu is the first former minister in the state to undergo judicial custody over allegations of corruption.
