HC judge recuses himself from Katta case
High Court judge Justice K N Keshavanarayana on Tuesday recused himself from hearing the bail application of former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, his corporator-son Katta Jagadish and Itasca Managing Director S V Srinivas in the KIADB scam.
When the matter came up for hearing before Justice Keshavanarayana, he said the matter should be heard by some other bench and directed that it should be placed before the Chief Justice to be entrusted to another bench.
Some of the counsels said Justice Keshavanarayana had practised as a lawyer under Chalapathi Rao, father of S V Srinivas. They felt it would not be appropriate for him to hear the case.
Katta Subramanya Naidu, Katta Jagadish and Srinivas are in judicial custody since August 8 in Parappana Agrahara central jail.
The three have approached the High Court after a lower court rejected their bail plea.
