Fireflies
Even today, I stayed up at night
Because the things I imagined gave me a fright,
So I sat at my desk and looked out of the window
I saw some crickets singing a crescendo.
But something else caught my eye
Something flying really high,
Fireflies had filled the air
As they spread their light everywhere.
I stared at them in shock
As they flew around in a flock,
The sight was pure magic
But to see them leave would be tragic.
So I leaped out of the window with all my might
And in the air I started to glide,
And before the fireflies could get too far
I caught one or two and kept them in a jar.
So now whenever I feel scared at night,
I bring out the fireflies and hug them tight!

Rain, Rain
The rain drops
are falling
TIP TUP TOP!
On the window-sills
On the roof
On the hills
But they vanish
POOF!
When the sun
comes out
We all run out
to see the colour-bow
RAINBOW!
That is the reason
I like the rainy season!

From the time I wake up till the time I sleep
My Lord ensures that I overcome the reasons, that could make weep
How happy and gifted I am.
All the things I want and I may ever need
I have in abundance for my Lord is there to lead
How happy and gifted I am.
And soon and not very far when it’s time for giving back
I hope to give more than my share without ever looking back
How happy and gifted I am.
Prayers and hard work give me the confidence to feel this way
For that’s when God’s blessings will be with me, night and day
