Acting on the communication of Governor H R Bhardwaj dated August 3, 2011,  Lokayukta Justice Shivaraj V Patil directed the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Karnataka Lokayukta to proceed in accordance with the law.

In his order, the Lokayukta directed that the governor’s order dated August 3, 2011, to the registrar, Lokayukta, be forwarded to the ADGP. He said he was also forwarding the decisions of the governor and the competent authority under the Karnataka Lokayukta Act, 1984, the order dated August 2, 2011, along with a letter dated August 3, 2011, as well as Chapter 22 of the report.

As per the report, Yeddyurappa has been charged with favouring two mining companies, one of which had purchased a one-acre plot at Rachenhalli from the company owned by his sons and son-in-law for Rs 20 crore.

This was an inflated price, 20 times the market value, while another company made a donation of Rs 10 crore to Prerana Education Society in Shimoga, owned by Yeddyurappa’s family members.

The company, which made the donation was itself not financially strong or stable.
The other charge against the former chief minister, who also held the mining portfolio, was about continuing with the Reddy brothers despite the charges and evidence available against them.

 Yeddyurappa hospitalised
Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa was admitted to a private hospital in Bangalore on Saturday evening, DHNS reports. Yeddyurappa, a diabetic, reportedly had high levels of blood sugar.  He was admitted after doctors recommended tests and an overnight stay at the hospital, sources said.
