Pvt affordable housing scheme launched
The State’s first private affordable housing scheme was launched at Attibele in the City on Sunday. The first phase of the project ‘Shubha’ comprises 480 one-bedroom flats of 400 sq ft costing Rs five lakh each. The project has been awarded to Janaadhar Construction.
Kumari Selja, Union Minister for Urban Poverty Alleviation and Housing, who inaugurated the project said that the Central government has earmarked Rs 600 crore for as many as 52 housing schemes.
She said the private sector and Government can collaborate on similar projects in future. The housing society provides a primary school, primary healthcare centre, retail shops, children’s play area, power back-up, 24 hours water supply and security.
VP Baligar, the chairman of Housing and Urban Development Corporation said the agency could release Rs 750 crore in a week for several housing projects, subject to government’s consent.
