Congress MP wants a duel with Hazare
Congress MP from Jaipur Mahesh Joshi on Monday threw a gauntlet at anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare to contest election to prove his popularity.
Joshi also expressed willingness to resign from his seat and fight against Hazare. “It is the duty of the elected representatives to make laws and after elected to Parliament, Hazare could move his Jan Lokpal bill,” the Congress MP said and added nobody could coerce the MPs to support their version of the bill.
The opposition BJP, which is leaving no stone unturned to target the Congress, was quick to respond.
Considering the lackluster performance of the Congress MP and its government in the state, even an ordinary worker could defeat Joshi and Anna is a tall order for him, the party quipped.
Meanwhile, protests and demonstrations continued in various parts of the state as Anna’s fast for a strong anti-corruption legislation entered the 7th day on Monday. In Jaipur the epicentre of the protest was Statue Circle.
