The cops present there allegedly drugged her before perpetrating the crime. After the woman lodged an FIR, District Magistrate Vinay Kumar constituted a medical board, which confirmed custodial rape. As a consequence, the DIG, Saran range, Sunil Kumar, has suspended Kapurnath Sharma, the officer-in-charge of the Majhi police station.

The woman was brought from the Chapra jail on remand for interrogation in a murder case in which she was the prime accused. The undertrial said in her complaint that the cops gave her tea laced with sedatives on August 19. “I fell unconscious after drinking tea.

Subsequently, the policemen raped me one by one,” she said in her FIR, and reiterated the charge before the Additional District Magistrate Chapra, Tarini Das.

Eventually, the district magistrate constituted a five-member medical board headed by Dr Shambhunath Singh, and which also included two lady doctors Dr Kiran Ojha and Dr N Singh. The report submitted to the court as well. District Magistrate said: “There are bruises on the private part of her body. The possibility of the rape cannot be ruled out but the lady was accustomed to intercourse. She had been examined in jail which suggested that she was used to intercourse.” The woman undertrial is in judicial custody in connection with the murder of 15-year-old  Deepak.

Deepak’s father had named one Chandan and the woman in the FIR lodged in connection with his son’s death. But the woman, in her statement to the police, said that since Deepak had tried to outrage her modesty on August 12, she forcefully squeezed his testicles, following which he died.

Even though the investigation was on to verify her claims, the custodial rape has given the case a new twist and brought disrepute to the Bihar police.
