HC stays trial against Kanchi seer
The Madras High Court on Thursday stayed for eight weeks the trial in the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi is the prime accused, following a petition alleging an attempt to influence the court verdict.
Justice K Suguna directed the interim stay on a writ petition by lawyer P Sundararajan, seeking a “statutory investigation by registering an FIR” on a complaint given in this regard some time back to the Registrar (Vigilance) of the High Court.
The petitioner submitted that some audio tape on purpoted conversation between Sri Jayendra Saraswathi and trail judge Ramasamy regarding alleged payments made and to be made to influence the judgment has emerged.
