An NRI from Mysore has made the nation proud by being the lone member of Indian origin participating in the National Youth Parliament of Ireland.
She is Sujitha Ramesh (16), daughter of Ramesh Raghavendra and Sathyabhama couple, who are settled in Ireland from past 22 years. A student of St Louis Secondary School, Dundhalk in Louth in Ireland, Sujitha is studying in fifth year of higher secondary school (equivalent to first PUC in India).
Sujitha told media in the city on Saturday that she spoke on alcohol and drug abuse during her maiden speech in the parliament.
The parliament has 200 members, all students in the age group of 13 to 18 years. She claimed that her recommendations to introduce elevator facilities in the schools for the benefit of physically challenged students and extending of the discount cards for high school students in that nation have been considered by Ministry of Youth Services.
