Suspended
Four engineers of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) have been suspended for alleged financial irregularity of Rs 15 crore in the the purchase of materials for borewells.
Also, a criminal case has been registered against the private contractor/company involved in the alleged scam with the Ulsoor Gate Police Station.
Assistant Executive Engineers Govind Raj, Chandraprabha, Prakash and Assistant Engineer Shoba have been suspended. Narasimha Traders, the contract company was blacklisted.
Investigation into the matter has revealed that out of the 1,500 approvals given for the purchase of such materials in the last three years, 645 of them have been fake and prima facie evidence suggests the involvement of the contract firm.
The investigation was carried out by an internal team of BWSSB nominated by its chairman P B Ramamurthy, who based on the findings of the team ordered the suspension of the four engineers citing lapse in duty as reason.
