If you are not looking out for this place, you will surely miss it. This small eatery called Frio’s Cafe, tucked away in a hospital building is just what you call a hole-in-the-wall place.
Once you enter the cafe, you will be welcomed by a tiny but a comfortable seating area and the smell of brewing coffee. Based on the ‘coffee shop’ concept, it tries to amalgamate healthy and tasty food. What’s more, it runs twenty-four hours everyday.
Affordability and accessibility were the two things that inspired Sandeep Kumar to open the cafe. Health was another aspect which he didn’t want to compromise upon. He says, “People today are very health conscious. So I wanted to open a place that served food that matched their expectations in terms of nutrition and taste. Everything you get here is preservative free. Moreover, we aim to keep it on the cheaper side.”
This is what strikes you as soon as you read the menu. Even though the items are low-priced, one will be surprised by the enormous quantity they serve. A cup of mocha, espresso or regular coffee will last you for more than an hour as you sip and relax in the perfect ambience. You can request for a dollop of chocolate too. If you do not like coffee, the place has a variety of hot and iced tea with mint or coconut base flavours.
A plate of snacks along with the coffee is too tempting to resist. French fries and potato wedges are the popularly ordered item. The sandwiches come with different fillings like mixed vegetables, keema and egg bhurji. Besides this, there are chicken, egg and veg burgers and also aloo tikki that make for a filling snack. Non-meat eaters can snack on a cheese omelette with or without vegetable toppings.
For the ones with a sweet tooth, Frio has pastries and bakes which come in five variants according to the customers’ preferences. Also, one must try the delicious four-layer ‘Choco Berry Madness’ which has strawberry, chocolate and vanilla in it. If this is not a treat enough, the fruit juice items are simply awesome. While the smooth taste pleases the taste buds, every glass is topped with a piece of freshly cut fruit, which looks good to the eye as well.
It is a cafe where you can drink, eat, snack and chill. The customers have pleasant experiences to share. What many assert is that the quality and the quantity are both fulfilling. Added to this, the friendly service by the staff makes it enjoyable. Says one such customer Vikas Sorake, “I was brought to this place by a friend. But ever since that day, I have been coming here regularly and I have fallen in love with the place. The ambience is first class so is the hospitality and the food.”
