Protect environment and forest: C K N Raja
Legal luminary C K N Raja asked the students to emulate the principles and values of personalities who made a mark in the field of education and social work.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 96th birth anniversary of Shivarathri Rajendra organised jointly by JSS School of Nursing and JSS College of Physiotherapy at Rajendra Bhavan here on Tuesday.
He said many great personalities contributed to the growth of education immensely. All individuals should leave an impression in their own fields like seers Shivarathri Rajendra who toiled for the development and expansion of the education sector. “Personalities like Shivarathri Rajendra have become immortal through their work and policy stressing on education for all. We need to follow in the footsteps of people like Rajendra seer. The institution which he started is working towards improving literacy rate through ‘gnana dasoha’. It is not less than a yagna, he stated.
Raja, who is also the director of Centre for Legal Studies, Mahajana College, said we should deliver our duties and protect the fragile environment and forests. The deterioration of environment and ecology would push the citizens to a total messy situation. Students should create awareness on protection of ecology and conservation of forests. Everyone must develop a sense of responsibility towards nature. The youth should work towards sensitising the society on protecting environment.
Parashivamurthy, seer of Mahantheshwara mutt, S J Shashidhar Kumar, principal, JSS School of Nursing, A V Sunil, principal, JSS College of Physiotherapy, and others participated. Students of JSS Nursing School led the oath taking ceremony for the participants. Earlier, Dr K Veerabhadrappa, superintendent, JSS Hospital, flagged off a rally. The day-long programme concluded with a cultural programme.
