Darshan has jaundice

Bangalore, Sep 10, DHNS:

Kannada filmstar Darshan, who is now qaidi number 8993, was shifted to the hospital, hours after he landed in Parappana Agrahara central prison on Friday.

Police had arrested him for allegedly assaulting his wife.  Sources in the prison told Deccan Herald that at around 8.30 pm, he was brought to the jail and kept in the hospital ward as he was ill. Past midnight, he complained of breathlessness.

Immediately, doctors referred Darshan to Nimhans. Later, he was shifted to Jayanagar General Hospital and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences.

Doctors attending on the actor said: “Darshan was subjected to various medical examinations and it was found that he was suffering from jaundice. He should be in the hospital for a couple of days.”

Fans throng hospital

Several actors, producers and directors, including Rockline Venkatesh, Ganesh, Sa Ra Govindu and Duniya Vijay, visited him.

The police had a tough time controlling the fans. Darshan’s brother pleaded with them to remain calm.

“No one will tolerate torturing a woman. At the same time, I feel no one should interfere in matters between a husband and wife. They are the best to resolve if they have any issues, among themselves,” Rockline Venkatesh told Deccan Herald.

Several mult-crore projects involving Darshan are in the pipeline, and half-a-dozen  of his movies are nearing completion.

Producers and distributors are keeping their fingers crossed. Efforts are on to ensure that the actor gets bail at the earliest.

Different views poured in regarding the actor’s arrest and subsequent developments.

Some women’s organisations strongly condemned the actor’s unruly behaviour and came down heavily on film stars, directors and producers, who supported Darshan and attempted to get bail for him.
