Mayor aghast as parking lot turns garage
Mayor Sharadamma took officials to task on Wednesday, on finding that the multi-storey car parking facility on JC Road had been converted into a garage.
Sharadamma was aghast with the BBMP officials for allowing the facility to be misused by mechanics. She instructed the officials to get the place cleared.
Accompanied by MLA Hemachandra Sagar, Deputy Mayor Harish, Leader of the BBMP Council, Nanjundappa, and local corporators, the Mayor visited K R Market and surrounding areas.
During the inspection of the underpass work at the market, Sharadamma took the site engineers and the contractors to task for the slow pace of work. She set December as the deadline for the completion of the work. The engineers told her that the work was delayed due to the shifting of water pipelines by BWSSB.
Uncleared garbage
The residents complained to the Mayor about uncleared garbage affecting their health. Nanjundappa directed the officials to ensure that garbage was cleared on a regular basis.
The shops which had encroached on the footpaths also annoyed the Mayor. She directed the officials to clear the encroachment, which compelled the pedestrians to walk on the roads.
Harish directed the officials to fence the six acres of land in Kalasipalya, where a bus stand is coming up.
