Yet another baby falls from balcony, dies
She was busy playing, when the accident occurred
A two-and-half-year-old baby girl fell down through grills from the second floor while she was playing in the corridor in front of her house in Vijayanagar on Saturday.
The girl, Vandana, is the daughter of Chidanandakumar, a resident of first ‘D’ cross, Sampige Layout, Vijayanagar.
According to the police, Chidanandakumar, an engineer, stays in the rented house. He had gone out on some work on Saturday morning, while his wife was busy working in the kitchen and Vandana was playing in the balcony when the incident occurred around
1.30 pm.
A seriously injured Vandana was taken to a nearby hospital where she died around 11 pm, police said. The post-mortem was conducted at Victoria Hospital and the body was handed over to the parents.
Past incidents
Mohammad Noor (2) fell down through grills from the third floor and died on August 2 in Shamanna Garden in Byatarayanapura. The incident took place when he was playing in the balcony in front of his house.
In Hanumanthnagar on April 12, Nayana (1) fell down from the second floor while she was playing with her brother in the balcony and died. Nayana too fell down through the grills.
In JP Nagar on July 25, Arman Kashyap fell down through window from the ninth floor and died in Adarsh Rhythm Apartment. The incident took place when his mother was feeding him.
Student dies in accident
In a hit-and-run case, a second standard student was killed when a speeding motorcyclist knocked him down in Kamakshipalya traffic police limits on Saturday. Yatish (9), a resident of Maruthinagar 11th cross and a student of Panchajanya Vidyapeeth school in Jnanaganganagar was the youngest son of Thimmappa, an employee of the Public Works Department.
According to the police, Yatish and his friend Gagan came by a BMTC bus and got down at Jnanaganganagar. They were trying to cross the road to go to school, when Yatish was hit by the motorcyclist.
An injured Yatish was taken to a nearby private hospital from where he was shifted to Nimhans. However, he failed to respond to the treatment and died in the evening, police added.
