'Yathri Nivas likely to come up in Madikeri city'
Speaker, MLA inspect work at Omkareshwari temple
Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah and MLA M P Appacchu Ranjan inspected the ongoing development work at Omkareshwari temple in Madikeri on Saturday.
Temple development committee member Ramesh Holla spoke on the deelopment work.
He said community hall is being constructed at the cost of Rs 33 lakh and 80 per cent of the work has been completed. The department of religious endowment had released Rs 10 lakh.
Developmental work worth Rs 46 lakh has been taken up in the temple premises.
Along with community hall, Goshale, kitchen and dining hall is being constructed. He said that a proposal of Rs 3 crore has been submitted to the government for the renovation of Anjaneya temple and Kote Ganapathy temple situated in front of Omkareshwara temple.
There are plans to construct quarters for the priest, and temple staff and a compound wall around the temple. A proposal has been submitted to the tourism department for the construction of a yathri nivas above community hall. A sum of Rs 1.25 crore has been earmarked for the purpose.
The temple authorities are also planning to provide parking facilities in front of the temple. A letter has been written to the CMC in this regard, he added.
